The Time Traveler's Wife

Thanks to my friend Jen, I was able to score a pass to see an early screening of The Time Traveler's Wife last night. A very enjoyable night at the theater.

I'm always skeptical going to movies based on books that I loved. And, let me tell you, I loved this book when I read it a few years ago -- Audrey Niffenegger wrote a fantastic story that I just couldn't put down! I thought the film did a great job being true to the novel, and Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana were great. Well worth the viewing time, in my opinion.

I think that the beginning cut to the middle of the book too soon, so lacked a lot of the mystery and intrigue that the book had. By the middle though, I loved it and had recovered from the initial whiplash.

Accept, O Lord, my thanks and praise for all that you have done for me. I thank you for the splendor of the whole creation, for the beauty of this world, for the wonder of life, and for the mystery of love. Above all, I thank you for your Son Jesus Christ; for the truth of His Word and the example of his life; for his steadfast obedience, by which he overcame death; and for his rising to life again, in which we are raised to the life of your kingdom. Amen.
