A New Year

Well, friends. It seems that I've been semi-regularly blogging for a few years now, and that 2010 was not a stellar world in my blogging habits. I'm not sure that it's what I want to be doing with my time, honestly, or that I really have anything to say that just neeeeeeeds to be put out there on The Internets. But I hesitate to give up The Mixed-Up Files. I do not like change. And, you never know, maybe I'll be inspired by something that I just have to say.

So, welcome to 2011. Strange to say, but doesn't really feel that different from 2010.

What am I looking forward to about this year? Well, coming up soon will be the nominations for the Oscars. We'll see if I feel compelled to see all the Best Picture nominees again. Dreary Chicago winters are good times to sit in movie theaters.
Classes start in two weeks. I will definitely have my hands (and any imaginary free time) full of reading and projects.
I'm on a cooking kick, more than a baking one, right now. I only wish I lived in a fairer climate, where some variety of produce could be fresh and local all year long.

And, most immediately, I am looking forward to my brother's wedding in only 11 days! I can't believe my big brother is getting married. Crazy, crazy, crazy. Here he is, my brother John, with our nephew and me at our younger brother's wedding last summer:

Accept, O Lord, my thanks and praise for all that you have done for me. I thank you for the splendor of the whole creation, for the beauty of this world, for the wonder of life, and for the mystery of love. Above all, I thank you for your Son Jesus Christ; for the truth of His Word and the example of his life; for his steadfast obedience, by which he overcame death; and for his rising to life again, in which we are raised to the life of your kingdom. Amen.
