I Love Short Stories

Last week I had a lovely time being off of work and just hanging around the city. I ran some errands, slept in, watched too much television, and reacquainted myself with the short story magic of Jhumpa Lahiri.

I forgot how much I love short stories, and hers in particular. There is something fantastically refreshing in her style of writing. And short stories make one who has lapsed in their love of reading feel quite accomplished.

If you are unfamiliar with Lahiri's work, I strongly suggest you check it out: Interpreter of Maladies, The Namesake, Unaccustomed Earth.

Accept, O Lord, my thanks and praise for all that you have done for me. I thank you for the splendor of the whole creation, for the beauty of this world, for the wonder of life, and for the mystery of love. Above all, I thank you for your Son Jesus Christ; for the truth of His Word and the example of his life; for his steadfast obedience, by which he overcame death; and for his rising to life again, in which we are raised to the life of your kingdom. Amen.
