Election '08

I figured the season deserved one political post from me:Because I will be in Michigan next week, I exercised my civic right and responsibility this morning, just in the nick of time. While, of course, the national election is of great importance right now, I was also reminded of the many state and local responsibilities we hold here in Illinois: the majority of our ballot is for local officials, and also holds a two important state-wide questions.

Whatever your political affiliation or personal choice, if you're in the state of Illinois and are registered to vote, I hope you get to an early polling place today before 5 p.m., or your designated location next Tuesday.

Accept, O Lord, my thanks and praise for all that you have done for me. I thank you for the splendor of the whole creation, for the beauty of this world, for the wonder of life, and for the mystery of love. Above all, I thank you for your Son Jesus Christ; for the truth of His Word and the example of his life; for his steadfast obedience, by which he overcame death; and for his rising to life again, in which we are raised to the life of your kingdom. Amen.
