there will be no day outdoors at the Printer's Row Book Fair.
And, sadly, no day with Jen.
Which means that it was not quite worth it to rushrushrush downtown to the Library for Augusten Burroughs talk at 1:30. So, instead, it is a quiet day on the North Side, with great hopes for reading and some vegetarian chili (which is currently making my kitchen smell heavenly). On deck in the reading circle for the day:
- Finish Running with Scissors. This is where my moral imperative to finish everything I start reading takes over. I can't say I actually enjoy reading it that much. It is not taxing, but kind of nauseating. But, this far in, I can't just give up on it. (If you are familiar with the Enneagram, you will recognize that I am a true #6 here... loyal potentially to a fault...)
- Dorothy L. Sayers' Are Women Human? essay. I have been wanting to get into reading her work, and am also listening to an audio recording of Whose Body?, courtesy the great folks at LibriVox.
- Make my way through some more pages of X Saves the World. Though I find this book quite entertaining, it is difficult to get through quickly, for some reason. (Perhaps because I am a slow reader anyway... see previous post.)
(Another note on the weather: it is freakish, and apparently disconcerting for lots of people. My mom is trying to fly out of Kansas City right now, but has been delayed 3 hours because of weather in my fair city. What is up, weather?)

This weather has been whacked out for months. When is it going to behave properly?
I LOVE Dorothy Sayers' "Are Women Human!" She's great and could kick it with the rest of the guys (Tolkien, Lewis, etc.) The weather cancelled my Book Fair plans too! :(
i want to read are women human - you should totally bring it out here this week!
as for running with scissors, eh... it was ok. but not great. and not nearly what i wanted it to be.
