I don't know why this is something I have always wanted to do, but it really is. I seem to talk about it all the time, with many different people. But I have finally found someone to take me up on the offer, and help me get it going.
So, welcome to the world, A Staggering List of Books to Read.
Now, this title may sound quite odd. And it is, for a stand-alone book club. But, as high tech and stuck in college as we are, we have decided to facilitate this club through the helpful options of Facebook. That's right. It's a Facebook group.
And why this title, you ask?
Well, because I am completely unimaginative. Because it is very true. And becasue it is a play on a book by an author I would like to love, but whose book this takes after was simply unfinishable for me. Any guesses? I'll give you a hint: our first selection actually is this author's new book, What is the What. Dave Eggers for 1,000 anyone? And while we are not held to all future ramblings by Mr. Eggers, both my co-founder and I are reading What is the What after not thoroughly enjoying A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius. See how unimaginative we are?
As you can see, I am rather excited for this new club, which (hopefully) promises many hours of enjoyable reading and arguing with my fellow opinionated friends over deep literary matters... or at least over a few drinks and some good food!
