Catching Up

While this is rather late in coming, I had the wonderful privilege of a lovely weekend with the bride-to-be Becca Bowman one last time before she becomes Mrs. Rodney Langworthy. Bec came down from the wilds of Minnesota for a whirlwind of bridesmaid errands, continuous eating, and a fun little bridal shower.

We, of course, found some time on Saturday for one of our favorite college activities: lounging by Lake Michigan, people watching, and "studying" in the sun.

See, my books are being put to good use.

On Sunday afternoon, Carissa found her new calling as Backyard Grill Master. In her kind, vegetarian heart, she also grilled for all us meat-eaters.

Sunday afternoon I hosted a small bridal shower for Becca with many of her friends from her North Park days. It was good to be with old roommates, old 7th-floor-mates, and even a new friend.

I was very sad to see Becca go on Sunday afternoon. I have cherished the several weekends the past year and a half that we have gotten together, in Chicago, Minnesota, and our crazy trip to Indianapolis. I am so excited and honored to be a part of her upcoming nuptuals, just a bit nostalgic for the "days of glory" (otherwise known as communal pints - ahem, quarts - of ice cream, Friends on DVD, and American Idol nights).

Accept, O Lord, my thanks and praise for all that you have done for me. I thank you for the splendor of the whole creation, for the beauty of this world, for the wonder of life, and for the mystery of love. Above all, I thank you for your Son Jesus Christ; for the truth of His Word and the example of his life; for his steadfast obedience, by which he overcame death; and for his rising to life again, in which we are raised to the life of your kingdom. Amen.
